Early voting for the Nov. 5 election continues through Oct. 29, excluding Sunday, Oct. 27. The Natchitoches Parish Registrar of Voters Office located on the first floor of the courthouse is open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for early voting.
As of Thursday night, 4,304 or 18 % have voted. The breakdown is 2,935 are white, 1,193 are black, and 176 are other races; 1,880 are male and 2424 are female; 1.693 are Democrat, 1,910 are Republican and 701 are other parties; 3,472 voted in person and 832 have turned in voted absentee ballots On the ballot are 11 candidates U.S. President/ Vice-President. Additionally, there are five candidates for U.S. House of Representatives in the 6th Congressional District. They are Democrats Quentin Anthony Anderson, Cleo Fields, Wilken Jones Jr., Peter Williams, and Republican Elbert Guillory.
Also on the ballot is Amendment 1 asking voters “Do you support an amendment to require that federal revenues received by the state generated from Outer Continental Shelf alternative or renewable energy production be deposited into the Coastal Protection and Restoration Fund?”
