JT is not against some tax reform in our state…let’s just say he’s just a little scared about what might come out of an upcoming special session in less than a week.
Here’s why! One is because it’s a two person plan…Governor Jeff Landry and Richard Nelson, State Secretary of Revenue. Not much input from others. Secondly, the public is not being given much time to understand the complicated plan.
Probably the biggest concern JT has though is that the state legislative fiscal officer testified before a senate committee last week telling lawmakers…his office does not have enough time to adequately assess the impact of the tax changes on local government revenue.
