Gov. Jeff Landry on Monday called the Louisiana Legislature to convene for a special session focused on rebuilding the state’s outdated tax system and growing the economy. The special session will begin on Nov. 6 and end no later than 6 p.m. on Nov. 25.
The tax session will have 23 items for consideration.
ITEM 1: To propose amendments to the constitution and legislate relative to revenue and finance, including state and local revenue and finance, general revenue and finance provisions, power to tax, legislative authority, taxation, limitations, individual income tax, sales and use tax, corporation income tax, corporation franchise tax, severance tax, motor vehicle license tax, ad valorem property tax, excise tax, ad valorem property tax millages, state debt, exclusions, exemptions, deductions, reductions, credits, incentives, rebates, tax liabilities, tax collection, tax authority, tax administration, tax assessors, funds, establishment, consolidation, modification, and elimination of treasury funds, trusts, dedicated revenues, revenue sharing, expenditures, appropriations, unclaimed property, investment of funds, allocation of funds, Hospital Stabilization Formula, budgets, reports and records, donations, loans, or pledges of public credit, certain obligations, tax prescription, tax sales, and to provide for related matters.
