International Paper is gearing up to welcome Lakeview High School students into their summer internship program. This week representatives from the mill were joined by principal Chase Stepp and the counselor Germaine Wynn to talk with students about the opportunity.
During the visit, students were shown a presentation detailing the program that allows selected graduating seniors an opportunity to spend 12 weeks at the mill learning what skills are needed to be successful in manufacturing. The interns will spend time in each department, learning what International Paper does and understanding the paper mill environment. At the conclusion of the internship, they will be given the option to apply for an entry level operations position at the mill.
In the coming months, different representatives from the mill will visit Lakeview students with applications opening in April and final selections taking place before graduation in May. The internship will officially start at the mill in June.
