On Nov. 1,around 11:50 p.m., officers with the Natchitoches Police Department conducting a Uniformed Tactical Operation (UTO), were notified that a group of individuals were participating in illegal activity at a restaurant in the 400 block of Keyser Avenue. Upon arrival officers made contact with Jalon Blake (B/M, 18 y.o.a. of Natchitoches) and two juveniles near their vehicle. Officers immediately noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. After a search of the suspects and the vehicle officers located two firearms and nineteen grams of marijuana. One of the firearms recovered was reported stolen through Rapides Parish.
Blake was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, The sixteen year old was arrested for illegal possession of a handgun, and the fifteen year old was arrested for illegal possession of a handgun, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm or carrying a concealed weapon by a person convicted of certain felonies.
Uniformed Tactical Operations are grant funded selective enforcement operations that are aimed at the disruption of Quality of Life violations, open air distribution of narcotics, and gun related crimes within the communities of the City of Natchitoches.
