On Monday, November 18, Richard “Ski” Grenkevich, beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away at 94 years old, after a long and joyful life. Richard was born in Philadelphia PA on June 16, 1930, growing up in and around Hazleton PA.

As a young man serving as an airman at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, Richard met his future wife Jean Herring, whom he married in January 1952. After leaving the military, Richard began a career as a field engineer with Burroughs Corporation.

In 1960, Richard and Jean moved to West Monroe where, as members of St. Paschal Catholic Church, they met many life-long friends. Richard and Jean soon adopted their children Lisa and David before settling in Alexandria and joining St. Francis Cabrini Church.

After both children were grown and had left home, Jean and Richard retired to a lovely spot right on Cane River. Richard joined the Natchitoches Council of the Knights of Columbus as a life-long member, rising to the rank of 4th Degree Knight. An avid outdoorsman, Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing for most of his life, and when not simply chillin’ spent countless hours puttering in his workshop.

He is survived by brother Vincent (Tish), sister Pat Harris, wife Jean, daughter Lisa Bouchie (David), son David (Beth), grandchildren Adam Bouchie, Megan Miller (Cole), and AJ Bouchie (Lizzy), and greatgrandchildren Averi and Addison Bouchie, Brock and Millie Miller, and Lucy and Piper Jean Bouchie.

On Friday Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. a mass was held for Richard at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Natchitoches.
