1940-2025
Natchitoches native Stephen Holsten Harmon Jr, age 84, of Fernandina Beach, FL, went to be with his Savior on Jan. 4, 2025 after a battle with cancer.
Stephen was born in 1940 in Natchitoches, LA the oldest son of the late Stephen Holsten Harmon Sr. and Marcile Prudhomme Harmon.
He loved his school days at St Mary’s and exploring his hometown. After graduating from LSU, he served in the US Army for over 30 years, retiring as a LTC. He spent his civilian career raising support for colleges and Christian ministries.
Everywhere he went, laughter and generosity abounded. Some of his favorite activities were traveling, writing his devotional for the Natchitoches Times, “Today’s Good News,” and being goofy with his grandkids. He was known most for his unwavering faith in Jesus.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Annette; daughters, Jill Harmon, Pamela Augusta, and Julia Kurschner; son, Joshua Harmon; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Stephen will be laid to rest near his son, Stephen Harmon III, at the National Military Cemetery in Cartersville, GA.
