James Michael Albrecht Sr. Sept. 1, 1964 – April 27, 2025
James Michael Albrecht Sr. was born on Sept. 1, 1964, in Forest Lake, Minnesota to the late Paul and Beverly Albrecht Jr.
He was raised in Natchitoches, Louisiana and accepted Christ at an early age. James loved our Lord with all his might!
After a four year battle with neuroendocrine cancer, James passed away on Sunday, April 27 at home in hospice care.
James attended and graduated from Natchitoches High School in 1982. Immediately following graduation, he enlisted into the United States Navy to proudly defend our country.
James rose to the ranks of Petty Officer First Class and Gunner’s Mate First Class during his 13 years in the U.S. Navy.
He decided to pursue a civilian career and was honorably discharged in 1995. While utilizing his technical training from the military, James worked for Copier Services Unlimited (CSU) until 2002. Soon thereafter, he decided to pursue the educational degrees he always desired. While working two part-time jobs, James obtained a bachelor’s degree in education from Texas Southern University and graduated in 2006. Without a doubt, James’specialization was math and science for grades 4th-8th.
After teaching for a few years, James decided to further advance his learning by obtaining a master’s degree in Educational Administration from Sam Houston University in 2009.
James loved Science, Technology, and Coaching. He became a Science teacher at Mead (AISD), Hoffman (AISD), Cleveland (CISD) and Sante Fe Middle Schools. While at Sante Fe Middle School, James coached football, soccer, and track.
He was very proud of every student he taught. The 2023-2024 Sante Fe Boys Soccer Team had a special place in his heart. One of his most prized possessions was a shirt, signed by the soccer team, with the inscription of, ”Once a Coach… Always a Coach.”
James retired from Sante Fe in December of 2024. Each teaching assignment that James received allowed him to walk in his purpose by encouraging and ministering to others on a daily basis.
From 2000-2016, James was a member of South Union Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Michael V. Smith, and was incredibly humbled in 2009 when chosen as a trustee for four years. Later, James transferred his membership to Grace Church of Humble which is led by Pastor Brett Jones and Dr. Scott Jones.
James was preceded in death by his father, Paul Joseph Albrecht Jr; mother, Beverly Albrecht; and brother, Gregory Albrecht.
Family always came first: James is survived by his loving wife of nearly 25 years, Ikuseghan Albrecht; daughters, Jayme Albrecht Nelson, Crystal Salas (Jeffrey), and son, James Michael Albrecht Jr.; brothers and sisters: Paul “Joey” Albrecht III (Iona), Jeffrey Albrecht (Dianne), Julie Morehouse (Rick), and Janet McTyre (Trent); grandchildren: Erica Nelson, Zachary Nelson, and Anastasia Salas; nephews: Spencer Albrecht, Tucker Morehouse, Jonathan McTyre, Nicholas McTyre, mother-in-love, Mary Chambers, and a host of cousins, friends, and co-workers from each school that he worked.
A Special Thank You goes to the following for their prayers and dedication through James’ last weeks on earth: Pastor Paul Landrew, Janice Neal Colquitt, Nurse Elena, CNA Kristina, Genus Patris Hospice, MD Anderson Hospital, and the many Christians that prayed.
