On Sunday, Bro. Wayne Salley brought the message from 2 Peter 1:5-11. Bro. Wayne said. “Peter’s real name is Simon Peter. After he met Jesus, Jesus renamed him Cephas (Aramic or Peter (Greek), which means “rock.”. He said “Are you standing firm in your faith. As you grow, we have strength in God’s word. We get strength from reading God’s word. As Christians we should be stronger in God’s word. Look at how many things distract us from God’s word. We need to have patience; we have to grow. Brotherly kindness in verse 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brother kindness love. If you argue and if your points are right, you have nothing to argue about. Backsliders – Spend 15 minutes a day reading God’s word. 15 minutes a day praying and 15 minutes a day talking to someone about God. Do this every day you’re going know God, if do you that. 2 Peter 8-9 is about backsliding. God sees everything. If you are living a life of sin, how do you prove that you are saved? Let it show, they should see Jesus Christ in us. Romans 3:23- for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

On Tuesday the Natchitoches Red Hat Sisters went to Watson Library to visit Cammie Henry Hall. Donna Baker, who is in charge of Cammie Hall shared the history. This part of the library is named after Cammie Henry of Melrose. Ms. Baker showed the collection in the library of Ann Brittain, Beth Cloutier and other local historians, including Lucille Carnahan and Eugene Watson, whom the library is named after. We also viewed the Louisiana collection of Historic Writings from 1940 1970. She also told us that they have some history of some of the local churches. Those that attended the library tour were Liz Durr, Mary Fosson, Donna Masson, Joan Sheffield, Wanda St. Andre, Betty Whitehead and Mary Jane Wright. Following the library tour, we met at the Natchitoches Picnic Company on Front Street. Celidora Peltier and Debbie Waskom joined us for lunch. When we left there, we went to the movie to see Downtown Abbey: The Grand Finale. Debbie Waskom didn’t go to the movie, Celidora did attend the movie. I just went for the popcorn and a nap, because I never saw the previous Downtown Abbey. This was Donna Masson event for the month of September. We missed Becky Ham, Pete McCorkel and Carol O’Quinn.
