Beatrice Walker Curtis Dec. 12, 1931 Dec. 23, 2023

Beatrice Walker Curtis was born on Dec. 12, 1931 to parents Ida and Helmuth Crenwelge. She departed this earthly realm on Dec. 23, 2023, dying peacefully at the Sabine Medical Center in Many, LA at the age of 92.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her late husband Fred A. Walker and her siblings, Arthur Knopp and Pera Oehler.

She is survived by her husband, T.E. “Talmadge” Curtis, a resident of the Sabine Rehab and Retirement Center; her brother, David Crenwelge of Natchitoches; and her daughters, Sandra Kay Walker McDonald (Paul) of Jacksonville, FL and Cheryl Walker Waldrup (Marty) of Leesburg, VA.

Beatrice was a graduate of the Stamps-Baxter School of Music and taught piano, guitar and voice for more than 50 years. It is estimated that she taught more than 3,500 students in schools, churches and private lessons during that time. Many church pianists and choir directors in the states of Louisiana and Texas were her students. Beatrice herself served as a church pianist at the Emmanuel Gospel Church of Robeline, LA for more than 50 years.

She was a loving mother, wife and daughter and a devout Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart.

Services will be at Blanchard – St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches on Friday, Dec.29, 2023 at 11 a.m. followed by a private burial at the Ajax Cemetery in Marthaville, LA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 am until service time on Friday.
