Ernest was born on April 23, 1936, to Mary LaCour Llorens and Ernest “Buddy” Llorens.

Ernest attended St. Anthony Catholic School. After school, he joined the United States Army and served honorably at Fort Chaffee, AR. On Dec. 28, 1960, he married his precious love, Barbara Ann Roque. Together, they built a life rooted in faith and family, welcoming two children, Deborah Anne and Michael Delane.

Later, he worked at Natchitoches Hospital with Dr. Joseph Thomas and Mr. Jim Fortenberry.

Ernest then dedicated over 30 years to the United States Postal Service, where he eventually retired. Known for his work ethic and easy smile, he never met a stranger and made a friend wherever he went.

A charming and enthusiastic storyteller, Ernest was a kind and gentle soul— a man whose presence brought warmth to every room.

Ernest had a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. He loved traveling, history, and spending time outdoors with his family.

Ernest and his best friend Mac Metoyer often took their families on road trips across the country. He could often be found watching western movies, baseball, cheering for Notre Dame football or tending to his garden.

A natural tinkerer, he possessed a lifelong curiosity that led him to his favorite pastime: metal detecting. Whether searching for hidden treasures or relics of the past, he loved the “thrill of the hunt” and the quiet patience outdoors. To Ernest, every find was a piece of history and another story to share.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Ernest Llorens; his beloved daughter Deborah Anne Llorens; his brothers James Llorens Sr. (Rosa), Sidney Llorens (Anne), Louis Llorens (Carolyn); his sisters Sadie Metoyer (Raymond), Patricia Taylor, Mary Pearl Listach (Norah Jr.); brothers-in-law Joseph Chevalier (Dorina), Charles Cleveland Roque Jr. (Ardith) and sister-inlaw Mildred Roque Wong (Josiah).

He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Barbara Ann Roque Llorens; his sister Dorina Chevalier; brothers-in-law James Roque Sr. (Sharon), Raymond Metoyer Sr. (Sadie); sisters-in-law Rosa Sylvie Llorens, Carolyn Llorens (Louis), Ardith Roque (Charles); his son Michael Llorens (Knakita); his grandson Stephen Llorens (Allison), and greatgranddaughters Isabella, Alexandra and Gianna. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, extended family members and lifelong friends who will miss his stories and his beautiful spirit.
