Malcolm Edward Thomas, aged 86, passed away on December 19, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on March 12, 1937, in Houston, Texas, Malcolm was the beloved son of George Andrew and Lydia Alberta Thomas. Growing up in a nurturing farm family, Malcolm shared his childhood with siblings George Allen and Melba Joy Thomas. It was in Natchitoches that he discovered a profound connection, meeting the love of his life.

Malcolm’s educational journey led him through Cypress Fairbanks Schools, laying the foundation for a life filled with passion and dedication. His commitment extended beyond academics, marking notable contributions as the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association Youth Advisor and President and Parish President of the Natchitoches Parrish Cattlemen’s Association, and Progressive Farm Magazine Family of the Year.

On March 14, 1957, Malcolm exchanged vows with his soulmate, Rebecca Lou Nichols Thomas. Together, they navigated life’s joys and challenges. They had two children: Clayton Whitney Thomas (deceased as an infant) and Malcolm Edward Thomas Jr. Malcolm took great pride in his role as a loving husband and father.

Malcolm’s talents extended to being a skilled “Horse whisperer,” showcasing a unique and empathetic connection with animals leading to a natural transition to ranching. His community spirit shone through his role as a lifelong Deacon at Clarence Baptist Church, where he touched the lives of many through his strong faith.

Malcolm is survived by his devoted wife, Rebecca Lou Nichols Thomas, his son Malcolm Edward Thomas Jr., daughter-in-law Laurie E. Thomas, grandchildren Malcolm Edward Thomas III “Tres” and John “Gunner” Thomas, sister Melba Joy Thomas, Garnet Thomas, widow of Allen Thomas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

As we celebrate his life, we express gratitude for the love, laughter, and warmth he shared with us all.
