Roberta “Bobby” Lee McFarland Marks Harris McFarland, 88 years MS, went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 4, 2025.
A devoted member of Temple Baptist Church in Myrtle, Mississippi, under the leadership of Pastor Donnie Schuman, Roberta’s strong faith guided her throughout her life. She was a cherished sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, and her lively and fisty presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Roberta was born on May 25, 1937, in NatchiLA to Charles and Virginia McFarland. Known affectionately as Bobby, she lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering faith.
She is survived by her five children: Charlotte Sasser (Steve) of Mabank, Texas; Esther Hudson (Jack) of Hickory Flat, MS; Terri Davidson of Hickory Flat, MS; Timothy Marks (Melissa) of Hickory Flat, MS; Angela Williams (Rick) of McKinney, TX; brothers, Ray (Caron) McFarland of Stockdale, Ohio and Jerry (Jan) McFarland of Como, TX; and sisters, Martha Ann Mc-Farland of Clinton, MS and Ellen McFarland of Natchitoches.
She is also survived by her son-in-law, Noel Shelton of Torrance, CA; and her bonus children, Robert (Bob) Harris, Sr. (Wendy) of Nacogdoches, TX and William (Bill) Harris of Denton, TX.
“Bobby” was blessed with a large and loving family, including 19+ grandchildren, 23+ great-grandchildren, and 9+ great-greatgrandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Marks Shelton, bonus daughter Charlotte Ann Harris St. Clair, son-in-law Jeff Davidson; and father of her children, Norman E. Marks; and husband Monroe Earl Harris; her parents, Charles and Virginia McFarland; her sister, Sue McFarland Bailey; and her brothers, Kenneth, Richard (Butch) and Neal Mc-Farland.
Roberta spent many years of her professional career as a secretary and paralegal. She lived an active life by traveling with her family, reading books, painting, and cross stitching.
Bobby also enjoyed quilting and was a member of the New Albany quilt club.
Roberta’s life was a testament to her devotion to family, her love of church, and her belief in the power of tough love. Her smile, iconic silly pose for picture taking, laughter, and faith-filled heart will be fondly remembered by all who were blessed to share in her journey.
A Memorial Service will be Friday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m. at Fern Park Cemetery in Natchitoches.
Pallbearers will include Steve Sasser, Jerry McFarland, Bob Harris, Tim Marks and Shannon (Oddie) Lewis.
