Funeral services for Vida Mavis Cason, 87, of Fairview Alpha, LA were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov 8 at Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Olan McLaren officiating. Interment followed in Zion Cemetery. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cason was born Nov. 16, 1935 in Cypress, LA and passed away Nov. 5, 2023.
Vida was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. After having her family, she went to college becoming a teacher. She taught many students during her career.
After her retirement she and her husband became caregivers for their son Ricky injured in a vehicle accident with a traumatic brain Injury.
Always an avid reader, she began researching, investigating, and locating any avenue of help for him. She enjoyed traveling with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larris Cason; son, Richard “Ricky” Cason; father, Roy Frantom; mother, Ezell Doolittle; stepfather, Norrie Doolittle; step-brother, Frank “Buddy” Doolittle; and sister, Mayo Gallien Vascocu.
Mrs. Cason is survived by son, Tony Cason and wife, Kay; daughter, Brenda Riggs and husband, Paul; sister, Dora Crow; step-brother, Billy Doolittle; four grandchildren: Paul Riggs, Richard Cason and wife Amber, Matt Cason and wife Jordan, and Kyle Riggs; nine great-grandchildren: Connor, Chandler and Chase Cason, Archer, Gunner, and Walker Cason; Brooklyn, Violet, and Levi Riggs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Paul Riggs, Kyle Riggs, Richard Cason, Matt Cason, Connor Cason, Chandler Cason, and Chase Cason.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to Courtyard of Natchitoches, Hospice of Natchitoches, and Dr. Claudia Mayeaux.
