Northwestern State welcomes transfer defender to 2026 Women’s Soccer

Northwestern State has brought in its first transfer of the season in defender Rhiley Potteiger, head coach Ian Brophy announced Tuesday.Potteiger, a transfer from Southern Miss, is a center back who will help replace the graduating Jessica Spitzer, the Southland Conference Defender of the Year.

NSU CoRec teams are state champs, earn 2nd place finish

Northwestern State University’s CoRec flag football team won the 2025 state championship and Sportsmanship Award at the LCIRSA State Championships hosted by University of New Orleans. The men’s volleyball team finished as the state runner-up.

NSU hosts Signing Day lunch Dec. 4

Northwestern State will celebrate the newest members of the Demon football family with its early Signing Day luncheon on Thursday, December 4.The 11:30 a.m. event will be held at Merci Beaucoup in downtown Natchitoches and cost $20, which includes a choice of entrees from a select menu.

Precision agriculture to be held at event in Alexandria

The LSU AgCenter’s Precision Agriculture Summit will be held Dec. 10 at the State Evacuation Shelter, 8125 U.S. Highway 71, adjacent to the Dean Lee Research and Extension Center.Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. AgCenter administrators will offer opening remarks at 8 a.m.

Umeda reaches No. 111 in ITA singles rankings

Junior Honoka Umeda of the Northwestern State women’s tennis team earned a spot in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s national singles rankings this week, coming in at No. 111. She becomes the first Lady Demon to appear in the ITA Top 125 since Maria Skyba in 2018.
