Lady Demons are ready for Texas State Invitational

After opening the fall season with a strong showing at the Diving Eagle Invitational, the Northwestern State tennis team returns to action this weekend at the Texas State Invitational, starting Friday.

Squirrel & rabbit hunting season gets underway Saturday, Oct. 4

The Louisiana squirrel and rabbit hunting seasons begin Saturday, Oct. 4, in all parts of Louisiana and run through Feb. 28, 2026, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) announced. Squirrel and rabbit hunting are both enjoyable and a good way to introduce youth to hunting.

National Night Out is Tuesday

Cane Village Subdivision and the City of Natchitoches present National Night Out Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 5- 8 p.m. at the dead end of North Melrose Ave. Meet the Mayor, Chief of Police, Fire Chief and Sparky the Dog. There will also be free food, games and prizes.

Demons slip in 3 sets to Vaqueros

NSU Demons volleyball team was defeated by the UT-Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros 3-0 (2512, 25-17 and 25-12) Thursday night in Southland Conference play.

Personal bests were set by Lalaina Wood and John Klein, providing they are just about ready for the Southland Conference Championships, highlighting Northwestern State’s cross country teams at the McNeese State Cowboy Stampede on Saturday morning on the campus of McNeese.
