Legendary NSU track and field coach Leon Johnson is remembered

Longtime, legendary Northwestern State track and field coach Leon Johnson who led the Demons and Lady Demons to national prominence and tutored a pair of USA Olympians before retiring in 2013, died Tuesday after a brief illness.

Morris becomes first NSU freshman to earn All-American spot since 2011

Roy Morris only needed one jump to announce his presence to the country.On his attempt in the long jump in his first ever nationals appearance, the freshman showed no nerves, recording a jump of 24-7.75.

Northwestern State student-athletes enjoy another surge on SLC Commissioner's Spring Honor Roll

Another spring semester, another sizable jump for Northwestern State on the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Spring Honor Roll.Released Monday morning, Northwestern placed 126 student-athletes on the 2025 edition of the spring honor roll, an increase of 10.5 percent from the 2024 edition.
