Old Bethel was a small country church dating back as far as 1840, making it the seventh oldest church south of the Mason-Dixon Line and the second oldest church still in existence from the entire original Louisiana Purchase of April 20, 1803 transacted by Robert Livingston. Old Bethel was constituted in 1847. They became a member of the Sabine Association, 1848. Since that time there have been 35 pastors at Old Bethel. Currently our Interim Pastor is Bro. Wayne Salley.

This past Sunday, Bro. Wayne Salley brought the message from Luke 16:13. His theme was the gift of giving. He said. “Our whole purpose is to serve God. We have money, but it is not ours. It is all Gods. We give because everything belongs to God. (Psalm 24:1) In Philippians 4:18 - a pleasing sacrifice”. He read 2 Corinthians 8:1-7. When we work for the Lord, He will reward us. God has a purpose for us. We should pray about our situation. Bro. Wayne said that he had planned a different sermon for us today, but every time he opened his Bible, he saw the brochure about Georgia Barnette. When he saw that brochure he thought about how much his grandma loved WMU and working with WMU. He ask Dorothy Gibson to read about how the Georgia Barnette Offering got started.
