RunForBurt festivities include gala and race

The Burt Clark Foundation is hosting a full day of celebration on Saturday, Oct.14 with two signature events in downtown Natchitoches, both celebrating the life of Natchitoches native Burt Clark.

The weekend festivities kick off with the annual RUNFORBURT 5K Run/Walk beginning at 8 a.m. at the historic downtown Natchitoches Riverbank. Later that evening, the Foundation hosts a Black Tie Fundraiser at the Natchitoches Events Center with doors opening at 6 p.m.

“Burt always expressed his pride and love for his beloved hometown of Natchitoches and this is the reason we host these events here every year,” said Jana Clark, Burt’s wife who established the foundation. “It is the goal of The Burt Clark Foundation to promote and extend Burt’s passion for encouraging, inspiring and motivating everyone he met to engage in a more active and healthier lifestyle regardless of age, physical ability, gender or socioeconomic standing.” Clark was an avid runner and cyclist and was also a participant in triathlon and duathlon events.

Dianna Payton will be the gala keynote speaker. Honorees include Health and Wellness, Dr. Phyllis Mason; education, Lusetta Anthony; community engagement Katrice Below; and community development, Rhodes Properties and Development.

The Burt Clark Foundation, a 501C3 nonprofit organization, engages in mission-centric programs that include includes health and wellness, community engagement, education and service. This year’s Black Tie Gala will give the Foundation the opportunity to showcase and celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of four (4) local honorees that are pillars in the Natchitoches Parish community.
