Community Giveaway
Free clothes, shoes, toys, household goods and more will be distributed during the Community Giveaway in Powhatan. The third annual event is held Saturday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon at Good Hope Full Gospel Baptist Church located at 145 Alexandria St. Lunch is also provided at no cost. Those wishing to donate to the cause can call 318/609-2352. Sponsoring the event are Mission of Love Ministries, New Faith Endeavors and DR Apparel.
Farm & Family Day
Make plans now to attend Clara Springs Farm and Family Day. The annual event is held Saturday, Oct 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Entry fee is $1 per person. On tap will be craft, and food vendors, and the always popular Clara Springs cinnamon rolls will be sold. Paint Class
Northwestern State University’s Office of Electronic and Continuing Education will offer a Pick Up Your Brush painting class on Oct. 19 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the second floor of South Hall. The fee is $45.
In the class, participants will learn the art of painting using step-by-step tructions to create a masterpiece.No special or prior skills are required. Children who are 7–12 years old are allowed to enroll, but a parent must accompany the child during the entire class. Parents do not have to enroll unless they take part. All supplies are included. Turkey Leg Fundraiser
Golden Star Chapter No. 62 will sponsor a turkey leg fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 21 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Walmart Parking Lot at 925 Keyser. The orders will include a turkey leg, water or soda and a special treat for $15. Members will deliver within the City limits with five or more orders. Contact WM Lela Harvey at (318)529-0638.
Trunk Or Treat
Golden Star Chapter No. 62 and Voices 4 Autism will hold a trunkor- treat for Halloween Saturday, Oct. 28 from 5-7 p.m. in the parking lot of Impressions by Dunagan at 408 Fifth St.Organizers say they are looking forward to seeing children in their costumes.
