Parish Council changes date

The regular meeting of the Natchitoches Parish Council will be Tuesday, Jan 21 at 5:30 p.m. in the Parish Council Meeting Room, second floor, of the Natchitoches Parish Courthouse. The change is because of the holiday Jan. 20 for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Governor appoints local man to Ethics Board

Gov. Jeff Landry has appointed Rick Nowlin of Natchitoches to serve on the Louisiana Board of Ethics.Another area appointment is Mike Smith of Winnfield,, a former Republican State senator.Nowlin is a former State legislator having served in the La. House of Representatives from 2008-2012.

Symphony will play Brahms and Berlioz

The Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Orchestra will perform on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Tickets are $16.50 if purchased online at https://nnssla.org/ticket-sales or $15 at the door. The concert was originally scheduled for Jan. 16.Dr.

Save the Date! FAUNA (Friends All United for Natchitoches Animals) is taking over the annual fundraising Pub Crawl event. The event is being held is Saturday, March 15.The Natchitoches Area Chamber of Commerce’s Natchitoches Young Professionals group has hosted the event in previous years.

Historical Society recognizes contribution of Antee family

Family members of the late Edward “Wood” Antee met at theBadin-Roque Park to view the historical plaques recognizing the generosity of their ancestor who sold the 1700’s Badin-Roque House to the Saint Augustine Historical Society (SAHS) in 1979.

Sheriff announces promotion of deputy to patrol corporal

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright announces the promotion of Dep. Sheriff Kiara Padilla to Dep. Corporal in the NPSO Patrol Operations Bureau.Padilla, a 3-year-veteran of the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff ’s Office, is a graduate of the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts.
