Northwestern State University will induct six new members into its Alumni Hall of Distinction, the Long Purple Line. The inductees are the late Jack Brittain Jr., Henry Burns of Haughton and Dr. Steve Horton, Doug Ireland, Dr. Chris Maggio and Robert “Skeeter” Salim, all of Natchitoches.

Lighted boat parade registration is open

Registration is open for the Lighted Boat Parade being held Dec. 14, at 5 p.m. as part of the Festival of Lights celebration. Each boat registered will receive a Boat Parade T-shirt. Additionally, following the Boat Parade registrants will receive a front-row seat to the drone and fireworks show.
