NPD investigating shooting on Rowena

On March 12, around 8:42 p.m., officers responded to the Highland Park neighborhood in reference to hearing gunshots in the area.While officers were looking for the source of the gunshots two victims arrived at the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center each suffering from a single gunshot wound.

NPD officers apprehend juveniles with 2 allegedly stolen guns

On March 13, around 11:09 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Texas Street in reference to juveniles possessing firearms in the area.Upon officers’ arrival they attempted to make contact with the juveniles, who fled on foot toward the Highland Park neighborhood.

Burn ban rescinded in Red River

Red River Fire Protection District has announced the burn ban has been lifted. As a result open burning is allowed, however, fire officials encourages all to use caution and good judgment when burning.

State C&E working with USGS to investigate cause of tremors

Louisiana Department of Conservation and Energy (C&E) announced last week they are working closely with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and universities throughout the state in the attempt to establish a definitive cause for the recent series of earthquakes in the Red River Parish area.

Red River parish Sheriff ’s Office arrested Tabatha Martin, 38, on March 6 for 2 counts of failure to appear for criminal arraignment. She was incarcerated on 2 concurrent $25,000 bonds.Red River Parish Sheriff ’s Office arrested Ronald Bell, 30, on March 7 for failure to appear for criminal trials.
