This past Sunday, Bro. Wayne Salley brought the message from James 5:16. After he read the verse he said to take time to talk to God. When we ask for forgiveness, we should call out our sine and ask forgiveness. He said, it will make us a better Christian. He read James 1:5. If we lack wisdom, we should ask for wisdom, God will give it liberally. Bro. Wayne read Psalm 119:18 and 1 John5:16. He ask whoever finds Isaiah 40:31 to read it and I read the verse, Old Bethel will have a cemetery workday on Saturday, September 30. On October 1, 2023 Old Bethel will celebrate its 176 Homecoming. Bro. Richard Kaufman will bring the message. Home Grown Tomater’s singing group will lead the music. The homecoming theme is “The Folded Napkin” based on John 20:7.
Last Tuesday, September 12, Malcolm and I attended the Natchitoches Association Annual meeting held at Westside Baptist Church.
Bro. Steve McAlister was the Moderator and he also welcome everyone. Congregational singing was led by Johnny Dunn.
The Annual meeting sermon was by Bro. Gabriel Ruiz, Associate Pastor of Westside. He is our missionary. His message came from 1 Corinthians 10:31. Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. He said, “Remember God is first. Matthew 10. Hebrew 12- focused on Jesus. Our citizenship is in Heaven. Hebrew 1:3- the Lord sustains everything. The Lord hold everything together. Life of Thanksgiving for our salvation. Everything we have is a gift from God. Read Colossians 3:17.
After the sermon Bro. Ron Thompson and Bro. Steve McAlister announced the retirement of Natchitoches Association WMU Director, Jewel Presson. They gave her gifts. Her birthday was following week, she turned 90 years on her birthday. We sang happy birthday to her. Ms. Jewel thanked everyone for her support all these years. They announced that Lori Thompson will take Ms. Jewel spot until they find someone willing to do the job that she held for 40 years, Other business taken care of were: Committee on Committees, Budget and Finance, Obituaries for the past year, Reports from BCM, Toledo Bend Resort Ministries, Clara Springs, Louisiana Baptist Childrens Home and District Eight.
Westside Baptist Church will be celebrating 20 years of Ministry with Johnny Dunn on Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 9 a.m. - 12 noon, both services.
Clara Springs Farm and Family Day will be Saturday, October 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost $1 per person. All proceeds goes toward Puerto Rico trip.
