Alderman Sarpy wants State takeover; village has $30,000 in unpaid sewer bills

Before a packed house during the first meeting of the new year, the Village of Natchez failed to pass a sewer rate increase that was tied to a $1.034 million state grant.

Giving the nod to the increase was lone Alderman Sheila Johnson; saying nay were Aldermen Monique Sarpy and McKinley Hoover. Such action took place Jan. 2 during the regular monthly council meeting.
