Blanche Mae (Horn) Shirey, who graced this world with her unwavering love and nurturing spirit, passed away peacefully on November 10 2024, in Natchitoches, LA at the age of 96.
Born on June 22, 1928 in Natchitoches to L.D. Horn and Fannie Mitchell, Blanche’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with family, devotion and the simple joys of homemaking.
Blanche poured her heart into her family, proudly serving as a dedicated homemaker for many years. Her culinary skills were legendary; she possessed an extraordinary talent for cooking, able to estimate just the right amount needed for any gathering, ensuring no guest left hungry.
Blanche shared a profound bond with her husband, Leroy Shirey Sr. Together, they would have celebrated 59 years of marriage on Nov. 12, a testament to their enduring partnership and devotion.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Leroy Shirey Sr., sons, Leroy Shirey,Jr., Bill Rule and Dennis Rule, granddaughter, Gabrielle Shirey and her grandson Dustin Shirey.
A graveside service will be at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 at Coldwater Cemetery in Hagewood, LA. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until noon at Blanchard- St. Denis on Friday, Nov. 15.
