John Alton Dupree, Jr. of Goldonna, Louisiana, was born October 20, 1942, and passed from this life on December 17, 2025.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frances L. Buckley Dupree, twin sons, John Allen Dupree (Theresa) of Haughton, LA, and David William Dupree (Joan) of Stonewall, LA; also, his brother Roy Dupree (Linda) of Goldonna, three grandsons, Joshua (Bridgett), Jacob (Jordan) and Matthew (Brianna), and one granddaughter, Madeline Dupree.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Gertrude Bamburg Dupree and cousin Robert Earl Bamberg Jr.
Johnny received his education at Northwestern State University with a master’s degree in education. He was a retired school teacher of 24 years in the Louisiana Education system, teaching math and science at Brame Jr. High in Alexandria, Winnfield Middle School in Winnfield, LA, and eventually retiring from Goldonna Elementary.
Johnny was happiest in the woods or on the water surrounding his home. He loved to fish for bass and catfish and he hunted anything that was in season. He was a member of the Red liver Ramblers Camping Club and developed many close friendships with the members.
A memorial service was held at the Goldonna Baptist Church on Jan. 31. Visitation was from 911 a.m. with the service at 11.
