Members of Cane River Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution welcomed speaker Dr. Vicki Parish at the LSDAR Summer Workshop at the Natchitoches Evens Center. Parrish profiled prominent women in history who had goals and virtues that are the same ones that DAR members have.

4-H Honor

Judge Desiree Dyess was inducted into the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame last week at Camp Grant Walker Judge Dyess has been involved in 4-H since she was9 years old, and continues to give back to the organization as a member of the Natchitoches Parish 4-H Foundation.

Red River quilt show is in September at Shreveport Fairgrounds Ag Building

This year’s Red River Quilters Quilt Show is set for Sept. 1314, in the Louisiana State Fairgrounds Ag Building in Shreveport. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Dog Days of Summer

NSU Soccer team stepped up to the plate Saturday to volunteer at the Friends All United for Natchitoches Animals (FAUNA) monthly dog wash and nail clipping fundraiser at Tractor Supply. Some 100 pups showed up to bask in cooling bath and more.The next dog wash is Saturday, Sept. 14, from 9 a.m.

The Natchitoches Parish 4-H first sewing camp was a huge success! We would like to thank Jesse Parr, NSU Costume Shop, for hosting. The students had so much fun learning basic seams, pressing techniques, naming the parts of the machine and creating a cute tissue holder.
