Natchitoches native Lawrence Irchirl Jr. will sign copies of his debut poetry collection, Poetic Peace: The Heart-felt Edition, at the Natchitoches Parish Library’s (NPL) Main Branch on Saturday, May 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Northwestern State University’s Department of Music will sponsor two sessions of summer music camp starting in June for children in kindergarten through grade six Music Around the World will be on June 22-26 from 9 a.m. until noon at the Performing Arts Complex. The camp is $150.

Natchitoches-Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright announces that Dep. Ashley Mays graduated from the Alexandria Regional Police Academy.Mays, along with fellow graduates, were honored during graduation ceremonies held Thursday, May 14 at the Alexandria Convention Center.
The Natchitoches Police Department has three new officers who graduated from the Alexandria Regional Police Academy May 14. The new officers spent several grueling months at the Alexandria Regional Police Academy and will participate in the Natchitoches Police Department’s field training program to gain more experience. From left are Jacori Curry, Gabe Williams and Javion Patterson.
