A very strong (for this time of year) ridge of high pressure aloft having an intensity of 590 decameters during Christmas Eve caused a lengthy stretch of late December unusual, above average warmth for Natchitoches Parish. The high pressure was centered over northeast Texas and northern Louisiana from Dec. 24-28.
