Kiwanis Club names ‘Deputy of the Year’

Medical Center earns top award for nursing communication

Natchitoches Regional Medical Center (NRMC) announces its inclusion in Becker’s Hospital Review’s “529 Top Hospitals for Nurse Communication” list, which highlights hospitals nationwide that earned a 5-star rating in nurse communication.

The Rotary meeting

Pearl Walker and Juanita Murphy made a brief announcement at the Rotary meeting Sept. 30 about an event coming during Vet Tech Week at the NSU Friedman Student Union Ballroom on Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. The event is The Cruelty Connection: Animal Abuse and Human Violence. Speakers will be Dr.

On the front page in the Oct. 9 edition, the story regarding The Village of Natchez Mayor breaks tie on new budget should have said Alderman Sheila Johnson made the motion and gave the nod to approve the budget. Alderman Monique Sarpy abstained. The reporter inadvertently switched the names.

If you have a long weekend because of Columbus Day… good for you.It’s become one of those many holidays the federal government has moved to a Monday. Since the Federal Government shuts down that day… kind of ironic this year… the states normally follow suit and close also.

Cellist will present recital in NSU’s Magale Recital Hall

Cellist Paul Christopher will present a recital at Northwestern State University on Monday, Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free . A livestream will be available at http://www.nsu.la/CA PA-LIVE.Christopher is an associate professor of low strings and music theory at NSU.

Early voting results released

A total of 950 local voters went to the polls in the Oct. 11 election. Of the total early voters 417 turned in a voted absentee ballot, and 533 voted in person.

Shady Grove Center will sell lunches

The Shady Grove Community Center located at 323 Shady Grove Road is selling lunch boxes on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. The menu is smoked chicken, potato salad, string beans, dirty rice, roll, desert and drink for a minimum donation of $12.
