Technology classes scheduled

Northwestern State University’s Department of Engineering Technology will host two workforce development workshops for adults this summer. The workshops are for individuals age 18 or older with high school diplomas. Classes will be from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in Williamson Hall Rooms 112 and 123.

Former contract detention officer gets 3 years for sexual abuse of ward

On June 26, David Courvelle, 56, a former Contract Detention Officer at the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Basile, Louisiana, was sentenced to three years in federal prison after his December 29, 2025, plea to one count of Sexual Abuse of a Ward.
