Moments in African American History Honorees

The Concerned Citizens Association of Natchitoches presents “Moments in African American History” Saturday, Feb. 7 at 5 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation and Community Center at 660 MLK Drive.

Disaster relief available from FEMA

FEMA announced Jan. 27 that federal disaster assistance is available to the state of Louisiana to supplement response efforts due to emergency conditions resulting from the severe winter storm beginning on Jan. 23 and continuing.

Village has sewer woes

Sewer woes topped the agenda in the Village of Natchez first meeting of the year on Jan. 8. In early December the pumps at lift stations #1 and #2 were not properly working.

Congratulations to Natchitoches Central High School’s most recent students scoring perfect LEAP scores, Kenzie Drury, Jake Cain and Kynlee Harrell. The students took LEAP tests for their fall classes in December and scored perfect on their tests.

St. Augustine Catholic Chuch concert is Friday evening

St. Augustine Catholic Church presents “A Tribute to Marian Anderson: Celebrating a Voice that Changed History,” Friday, Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. The Church is located at 2262 La. Hwy. 484 in Melrose.The tribute will feature Imani Sarai Francis, soprano, with pianist Wilfred Delphin.

NSU Child Development Center accepting apps for 3-4 year olds
