#24 seeded Natchitches Central Chiefs take on the #9 seedeed Terrebone High School Tigers in the first round of the Division I Non-Select bracket. NCHS record is 6-4 while Terrebonne’s is 8-3. The winner plays the winner of #8 seeded Southside vs. #25 seeded Praireville.

Duck season to open this month

The 2025-26 Louisiana duck hunting season begins in the West Zone with a youthonly hunt (Nov. 8-9), followed by the first split of the regular season a week later (Nov. 15), the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries announced.The East Zone’s youth & veterans hunt will be Nov.

Parts of Fort Polk-Vernon WMA to be reopened

While the ongoing federal government shutdown has resulted in the closure of Fort Polk Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs), limited exceptions will allow for the temporary reopening of some areas of Fort Polk-Vernon WMA, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) announced.

Spyrou claims Flight title as Lady Demons close fall play in Beaumont

Northwestern State tennis closed out its fall season at the Joe Pyburn Invitational on Sunday with senior Zoi Spyrou winning the Flight A East singles championship to highlight the Lady Demons’ final day of fall competition.

Nine NSU runners post PRs at Southland Conference Championships

When running in the conference meet to end the season, competitors would like to be running their best.That is just what many runners did for Northwestern State at the Southland Conference Cross Country Championships, as many posted personal bests Friday morning on the campus of NSU.
