Rocco Gump picked up one final honor for his 2025 season.Gump earned honorable mention honors on the annual Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s All-Louisiana Team, which was announced Monday morning. The team is chosen by a vote of state baseball sports information directors and media members.

Voting has opened in the selection process for Northwestern State’s 2025 N-Club Hall of Fame class honoring some of the Demons’ most accomplished athletic figures, with participation open for the first time to all of the university’s former athletic letterwinners.

Doberlet picks up a National Championship win in doubles

Pika Doberlet of the Northwestern State tennis team, along with her partner Zala Vnuk delivered a commanding performance to claim the Slovenian national championship in doubles, putting on a display of skill and chemistry that made them unstoppable throughout the tournament.
Three freshman anglers were awarded Dylan Kyle Poche Scholarships for the upcoming academic year. Attending this year’s scholarship presentation were, from left, Shelley Poche, Burt Poche, Landon Watts, Josiah Shockley, Braxton Speyrer and members of the NSU Bass Fishing Team Caleb Johnston, Dawson Cowden and Travis Johnston.

Three incoming Northwestern State University freshmen were named recipients of Dylan Kyle Poche Memorial Fishing Scholarship. Braxton Speyrer, Landon Watts and Josiah Shockley will be a part of the university’s bass fishing team and will compete in FLW, B.A.S.S. and Collegiate Bass circuits.

Coming off one of the largest single-season improvements in program history, Northwestern State has extended head baseball coach Chris Bertrand’s contract.The addition to Bertrand’s current deal takes him through the 2028 season as the Demon skipper.
