Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright has announced the promotion of Dep. Thurman Baptiste to the rank of detective in the NPSO Criminal Investigations Bureau.Deputy Baptiste, a graduate of Ringgold High School, served 14years in the United States Marine Corps.

City reminds drivers that Washington remains closed

The City of Natchitoches advises the public Washington St. remains closed from Texas St. to Highland Park Dr. until further notice.This street closure is due to an emergency water line repair by the City’s Utility Department. Please adhere to detour signs during this time.

The 54th Lambertown Cemetery Homecoming will be Sunday Oct. 6 at Shamrock Advent Christian Church on Shamrock Loop off Hwy. 120 in Robeline.The devotion will begin at 10 a.m. and business meeting at 11 a.m. Dinner on the grounds will follow.Come and bring a covered dish and enjoy the fellowship.

Celebration of Life

The City Council declared Michele Smith and Rosemarie Fenchel Day on Oct. 3, the date of the Celebration of Life fundraiser gala. Smith and Fenchel will be the speakers at the Women’s Resource Center gala and were honored for their dedication and advocating for the unborn.

Guest artists to work with dance students on ‘Dreamscapes’

Guest artists Brandon Collwes and Eric Rivera will be creating and staging works for “Dreamscapes,” which will be presented Oct. 17-19 by Northwestern State University Theatre and Dance.Collwes was with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company and is now with the Liz Gerring Dance Company.
