Folk Life Month will recognize ‘tradition bearer’ at Magale

Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser has announced October marks Louisiana’s 10th Annual Folklife Month, a celebration of the state’s living traditions and the individuals who sustain them. Selected by local folklorists and other culture workers, six tradition bearers or groups will be honored at six events.

Uncle Kracker will perform at TappedTober Festival

The 6th annual TappedTober Craft Beer and Wine Festival returns to the historic downtown Natchitoches riverbank on Oct. 12. This year’s festival promises to be the best yet, headlined by the renowned Uncle Kracker, known for his chart-topping hits like “Follow Me,” “Drift Away,” and “Smile.

DEQ meeting is Thursday

Bands to Perform

The NSU Percussion Ensemble and Steel PanDEMONium Band will perform their first concert of the year at Northwestern State University on Friday, Sept. 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall.

Deadline approaching for alumni award nominations

The Northwestern State University Alumni Association invites nominations for four awards, two that will recognize distinguished service, one for volunteerism toward the Alumni Association and one for a distinguished supporter.The deadline to submit applications is midnight Oct. 9.
