DEQ meeting is Thursday

There will be a public meeting to discuss location of a salt water injection well in Natchitoches Parish Thursday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m. at the Natchitoches Events Center.The proposed site in near Allen.

Bands to Perform

The NSU Percussion Ensemble and Steel PanDEMONium Band will perform their first concert of the year at Northwestern State University on Friday, Sept. 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall.

Deadline approaching for alumni award nominations

The Northwestern State University Alumni Association invites nominations for four awards, two that will recognize distinguished service, one for volunteerism toward the Alumni Association and one for a distinguished supporter.The deadline to submit applications is midnight Oct. 9.

Lambertown homecoming meeting and meal scheduled

The 54th Lambertown Cemetery Homecoming will be Sunday Oct. 6 at Shamrock Advent Christian Church on Shamrock Loop off Hwy. 120 in Robeline.The devotion will begin at 10 a.m. and business meeting at 11 a.m. Dinner on the grounds will follow.Come and bring a covered dish and enjoy the fellowship.

LSMSA alum wins Hermitage Prize in Composition

Her film music has also been featured on APM Music’s sound library, MPATH. A champion of vocal music, Rice was recently commissioned by Vox Anima London to write a choral piece for their 2024 International Women’s Day Concert in London.

Lesche Club

The Lesche Club of Natchitoches met at the First Presbyterian Church on Bienville Street Sept. 9.The members were welcomed and treated to refreshments on a long table decorated with a fall theme. Hostesses were Elizabeth Hall, Janine Storrs and Mary Squyres.
