Northwestern State University’s Department of Engineering Technology will hold two summer camps for students interested in robotics.Junior Camp for students in grades 3-7 will take place May 2830. Advanced Camp for students in grades 8-10 will be June 4-6.Camps will be from 9 a.m.

The LSU College of Agriculture will award the LSU University Medal posthumously to Lutrill Payne Sr. at its December commencement ceremony on Dec. 18 at 9 a.m. in the Maddox Fieldhouse.Payne, born in 1910, was a native of Union Parish.

In the 1930s, Mr. Payne graduated from Southern University, moved to Natchitoches, married a teacher named Pearl, and had started a family before entering military service for World War II. After returning, Mr. Payne sued for admission to LSU’s graduate program in agricultural education. A. P.

Council on Aging observes Older Americans Day

Every year in May older Americans are celebrated for the contributions they have made for their families and communities. The Natchitoches Parish Council on Aging marked the occasion by hosting a jubilee on the Downtown Riverbank Stage Wednesday, May 1.
