Deputies find ‘standoff of a different kind’ on Coulee Loop

Residents along Hwy. 486 (Coulee Loop) woke up Friday morning to an unexpected, and unusually confident visitor when a deer settled onto a homeowner’s front porch and appeared to declare the location his permanent residence.

Responding deputies report that upon approach, the deer “squared up,” stomped a hoof and delivered a firm, silent message that could only be interpreted as: “Absolutely not, Deputy.”

Cpl. Johathan Dranguet described the stare-down as “the same look my toddler gives when I try to take away an iPad.”
