What to do with leftover Halloween candy

What can be better than spending a day with friends, decked out in costume as you accumulate a mountain of sweet treats? That’s what trick-or-treaters do every Halloween, and sometimes the cache of candy is more than a person can consume in a lifetime.

Water outages continue in City for some areas

The City of Natchitoches announced water outages that began Monday, Oct. 20, in the following areas: Breda from Texas Street to Rowena, Rowena to Sixth Street, and Sixth Street from Rowena to Sabine Alley to repair an 8- inch water main that broke under the railroad track on Saturday, Oct. 18.

Jury returns guilty verdict

District Attorney, Billy Joe Harrington announced that a 10th Judicial Court Jury has convicted a Natchitoches man for Illegally Possessing a Firearm as a Convicted a Felon and Illegally Possessing narcotics.

Governor calls for special session

Gov. Landry has called the legislature into a three-week special session.Lawmakers will be allowed to file bills related to election code, election dates, election deadlines, and plans for the 2026 election cycle. The special session will begin Thursday, Oct. 23 and end no later than Nov. 13.

Temporary Re-Closure Of Woodyard Drive

The City of Natchitoches announces a temporary re-closure of Woodyard Drive approximately 0.2 mile east of South Drive on Thursday, Oct. 23, in order to facilitate placement of the new asphalt surfacing. The closure will be from approximately 10 a.m. until approximately 1 p.m.

Water off on Woodyard Dr and surrounding areas

The City of Natchitoches would like to advise the public that a water line on Woodyard Drive was dismantled due to the construction work in this area.  The water will be off from Fish Hatchery to Lakeview Apartments.
