La. Endowment for the Humanities gives Folk Festival $8,000

With support from the State of Louisiana in 2025, the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities awarded $65,000 in funds to cultural organizations throughout the state including one to Northwestern State university.Natchitoches- NSU Folk Festival received a grant for $8,000.

Northwestern State University will induct seven new members into its Alumni Hall of Distinction, the Long Purple Line, as part of the homecoming celebration Oct. 3-4. The inductees are, first row from left, the late Robert Crew, Dr. Marcus Jones of Winnfield and Lee Posey of Natchitoches.

Man gets 9 years after guilty plea for felony theft

District Attorney Billy Joe Harrington announced a guilty plea July 22 in a felony theft case.Brandon Leron Garrett, 48, of Natchitoches, pleaded guilty to felony theft in connection with a series of unauthorized purchases made at a local business.
