Motivational speaker talks to JAG members

Natchitoches Junior High’s JAG hosted an inspiring Win at Life assembly featuring motivational speaker Ken Clear on March 7. Clear delivered an engaging and impactful message to the entire student body, focusing on resilience, purpose, and anti-bullying.

Demon Math Classic

Northwestern State University’s Department of Mathematics hosted the Demon Match Classic, a quiz bowl-style math competition for high school students. Sixteen teams from eight schools attended the March 21 event. Students competed as teams and as individuals.

It was a quiet week on campus with our students away for spring break, but certainly not a quiet one in terms of activity. Across our campuses and throughout the state, Northwestern remained engaged and represented in meaningful ways.

OngoingVoices 4 Autism is offering a Chair Fitness Class geared toward older active adults or anyone who needs a low impact class to stay strong and mobile.The free weekly class is held Thursdays from 10 to 11 a.m. at the MLK Recreational Center dance studio. Instructor is Ms. RM Reilford.

You can meet Easter Bunny at Melrose

The Melrose Easter Egg-Stravaganza breakfast with the Easter Bunny is sure to be hopping.This year’s event is Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $10 per person with ages 2 and under free.

4 amendments tank locally, statewide

Natchitoches Parish voters followed the rest of the state Saturday, March 29, by saying nay to the four proposed constitutional amendments.Some 21 percent of local registered voters went to the polls. Consequently, statewide roughly 20 percent of registered voters marked a ballot.
