The Drums Along

The Drums Along the River concert will be presented on Friday, Oct. 18 at 6:30 p.m. on the Downtown Riverbank stage. Admission is free. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held in Magale Recital Hall. The concert will feature the NSU Drumline and Steel Band.

JT didn’t realize just how big the Oak Tree in front of the Steel Magnolia House was…until they cut it down last week.The trunk of that thing had to be at least four-foot in diameter.The House is surely the focal point now.

Early voting begins Friday

Early voting for the Nov. 5 election gets underway Friday, Oct. 18, and continues through Oct. 29, excluding Sunday, Oct. 20 and Sunday, Oct. 27. The Natchitoches Parish Registrar of Voters Office located on the first floor of the courthouse will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for early voting.

Parish-wide burn ban in effect

Parish President John Salter has issued a parish-wide burn ban effective immediately due to lack of rainfall and extremely dry conditions.  The ban remains in effect until further notice.   Questions  concerning  the ban may be  directed to  Parish Government Offices at 328/352-2714 ext.

Labor and Pensions Committee Cassidy talked about polarization among voters. “The people in Washington D.C. reflect the people of the United States and the people are very divided. But we can be divided and first be Americans, and I guess that’s my challenge to us,” he said.
