LDOE plans to reduce testing time for students

Louisiana State Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley announced this week a significant reduction in student testing time. The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) is making immediate revisions that will reduce the time students spend taking state assessments by 20 percent.

The senior and kindergarten classes at St. Mary’s Catholic School recently had their “Buddy Reveal” where they learned who they were partnered with for the school year. St. Mary’s has an established tradition of having a Kindergarten Buddy program.

The Hideout Old Natchitoches

Henry DeBlieux, Joe Norman, Dale DeBlieux, Danny Todd, my brother Tommy, and I constructed quite an underground hideout on Cane River.It was located on the high bank of the river, just up from the Chamber of Commerce.We Tom Sawyers were in grades 4 to 6 at St. Mary’s Academy.

From the hideout we could observe the comings and goings of the citizens of Natchitoches.Naturally, we thought the hideout was indestructible. But alas, in six months rain caused a cave-in.I wanted to ask my girlfriend, Dootsie Baker (McNeely) to visit, but my buddies said – No Girls Allowed!!.

Sunday was Old Bethel’s 177th Homecoming. Bro. Wayne Salley was sick. Nell Settle got a phone call from his wife about 20 minutes before time to start saying that he a high fever and was on his way to Urgent Care. Nell asked Malcolm Durr to do what Bro. Wayne was supposed to do. So, he did it.
