City Council adopts 2026-27 budget with one amendment

The City Council adopted the budget for 2026-27 at the Council meeting Monday.There was one amendment offered by Councilperson Eddie Harrington concerning additional revenue and expenses.The budget allows for approximately $230,000 to potentially hire an economic development consultant.

The Louisiana legislature must end its current session by 6 p.m. on Monday. (They normally are through in plenty of time.. although they have gone to the wire before so to speak.)What that means is that during these final days a lot gets done and sometimes things get undone.

Honor Quilts go to 8 veterans Memorial Day

MaryLynne Marquardt and Margaret Kilcoyne, members of Cane River Stitchers, presented Honor Quilts to seven veterans during the Memorial Day service at the Natchitoches Parish Veterans and Memorial Park.Making the memorial quilts was a community service project.

NSU to offer Summer Rock Camp June 22-26

NATCHITOCHES – A Summer Rock Camp will be held at Northwestern State University on June 22-26 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. in the Fine Arts Annex. The fee for the camp is $180, which is due when camp contracts come out.
