Retired Teachers meeting in Sept.

District 8 of the Louisiana Retired Teachers Association will hold its fall district meeting on Sept 29, at the First United Methodist Church located at 411 2nd Street, Natchitoches.District 8 of LRTA includes the parishes of DeSoto, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine and Winn.

Burn Ban

The Red River Parish Fire Protection District has issued a burn ban prohibiting outdoor burning due to increasingly dry conditions and the heightened risk of wildfires. Fire Chief John Woodfin cited a lack of moisture in vegetation and current fuel dryness as reasons for the restriction.
