Baptist College Ministry marks 100 years at Northwestern

Northwestern State University’s Baptist Collegiate Ministry is marking 100 years of ministry to students while beginning a new chapter under new leadership.The organization was founded in June 1926 at what was then Louisiana State Normal School.

Senator announces new law to prosecute illegal aliens

State Senator Valarie Hodges, (R)-Denham Springs, announced today that a new law she authored that is now in effect will make it possible for the state of Louisiana to prosecute illegal aliens who enter the state unlawfully. The law became effective August 1, 2026.

Faculty concert will feature flute and piano in Magale Hall

A faculty recital featuring Stephen Clark on flute and Chialing Hsieh on piano will be presented at Northwestern State University on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. SWEPCO sends 250 employees to Ohio to help with damage

More than 250 Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO) employees from across the company’s Ark-La-Tex service territory made the roughly 17-hour journey to Ohio to assist sister company AEP Ohio with power restoration efforts.
