The Natchitoches Meat Pie Festival Pageant will be Sept. 5.The Basic entry fee if $55; Teen Miss and Ms. entry fees are $75.The age ranges are from0 to Ms. and winners will receive custom crowns and banners.There will be a $500 scholarship for the Miss queen at the end of her reign.

Professor attends math association meeting and is on board of directors

Northwestern State University Professor of Mathematics Dr. Judith Covington attended the Mathematical Association of America Mathfest, the annual meeting of the association. Over 1,800 mathematicians attended the summer meeting in Boston.

Nurse and nurse educator retires from Northwestern

Dr. Linda Nichols was feted with a retirement party in thanks for more than 23 years of service to Northwestern State University’s Leesville-Fort Polk campus. It was a capstone to a long career in hands-on nursing and nursing education.

Marthaville Heritage Pageant Queens

These lovely queens were selected July 11 at the Marthaville Heritage Queens Pageant at First Baptist Church in Marthaville. The queen in each age group received a crown and sash.

Phlebotomy technician training will begin Sept. 8 at NSU

A phlebotomy technician training class will be offered by Northwestern State University’s Office of Electronic Learning and Global Engagement in Natchitoches starting Sept. 8. The class will be on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
