Valentine’s Day brings roses to mind, and for us gardeners, that’s a good thing — because this holiday serves as a reminder that it’s time to prune many of the roses we grow here in Louisiana.

Middle Lab sixth graders end Creole Culture study with sumptuous buffet

The sixth graders at NSU Middle Lab School celebrated the end of their Colonial Louisiana unit Dec. 18 with a Creole Culture Christmas Party at the NSU Student Union.

City Council running out of patience on Fourth Street condemnation ordinance

City Councilman Dale Nielsen used what he called a “rail road analogy” to describe the situation the City is in regarding a house at 817 Fourth Street.A majority of the Council meeting Wednesday was taken up with discussion of a condemnation ordinance for the house that was on the agenda.

Sunday, Old Bethel canceled church due to the weather conditions.Sunday was supposed to be the District Eight Baptist Convention Annual meeting at Clara Springs. It was postponed at least two weeks.January is Sanctity of Life Month. Sanctity of Life Sunday was Jan. 18.
